AFSI Members Selected for Catapult: Inclusion Southeast Asia, Elevating Indonesia’s Sharia Fintech on the Global Stage

Jakarta, May 8, 2025 – The Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI) proudly announces that two of its members, Qazwa.id and Wakalahmu, have been selected to participate in the prestigious Catapult: Inclusion Southeast Asia acceleration program. They are among 15 fintech startups chosen from across Southeast Asia for this initiative, organized by the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and supported by the Luxembourg Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs.

Qazwa.id is a Sharia-compliant peer-to-peer (P2P) financing platform connecting funders with SMEs, while Wakalahmu is a Sharia insurance technology (insurtech) platform that enables the digital distribution of various insurance products from multiple providers. Their selection reflects the growing competitiveness and meaningful contribution of Indonesia’s Sharia fintech industry on a global scale.

The 15 selected fintech innovators will undergo an intensive acceleration program in Luxembourg in June 2025, followed by the next phase in the Philippines, culminating at the 5th Asia Finance Forum in September. During their residency in Luxembourg, participants can build strategic connections with industry leaders, investors, and potential partners through Nexus Luxembourg 2025, one of the country’s leading tech conferences. They will also engage directly with key stakeholders from the finance, development, sustainable finance, and technology sectors.

As an official partner of the Catapult program, AFSI actively supports its members through capacity building, guidance, and access to international networks. This achievement further reinforces Indonesia’s strong standing, ranked 3rd globally in Sharia fintech ecosystems since 2022, according to the Global Islamic Fintech Report published by DinarStandard.

“This is encouraging news at the start of 2025, and we deeply appreciate the achievements of our members, Qazwa and Wakalahmu,” said Ronald Yusuf Wijaya, Chairman of AFSI. “This milestone demonstrates the strength of our ecosystem and the global relevance of Indonesian Sharia fintech in advancing inclusive financial solutions.”

AFSI remains committed to empowering its members to grow, foster cross-border collaboration, and lead innovation in ethical and inclusive finance.
