Organized with the support of the Securities Commission Malaysia and in collaboration with MDEC, IFN, FAOM, AFSI, and Masryef, the roundtable serves as a learning curve for all levels of stakeholders, from regulators to startups, as both countries explore a united path to shape resilient and harmonized Sharia fintech growth in ASEAN.

As a strong supporter of this initiative, the Asosiasi Fintech Syariah Indonesia (AFSI) played a key role in facilitating dialogue, providing insights into the Indonesian fintech landscape, and bridging stakeholders from both nations. The roundtable addressed key themes such as regulatory support, innovation in Sharia capital markets, ESG and AI integration, and strategies for cross-border scalability.

A key highlight of the event was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between AFSI and the Fintech Association of Malaysia (FAOM), represented by AFSI Chairman Ronald Yusuf Wijaya and FAOM Vice President Marc Fong. This MoU outlines a shared commitment to promote, develop, and enhance Sharia fintech ecosystems through mutual knowledge exchange, capacity building, cross-border networking, and collaborative research in Sharia finance and digital innovation.

“This partnership is not only a strategic milestone but also a safe and trusted space for both countries to share best practices and grow together,” said AFSI Chairman Ronald Yusuf Wijaya. “We hope this synergy can spark more harmonised, forward-looking collaboration that will strengthen Sharia fintech not just in Indonesia and Malaysia, but across the entire ASEAN region.”

This initiative sets the stage for deeper integration and ongoing dialogue, laying the groundwork for a more inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready Sharia digital economy. From AFSI’s perspective, this collaboration also opens the door for long-term joint efforts in policy advocacy, fintech capacity development, and Sharia-based innovation that can accelerate the Sharia fintech ecosystem in both countries and serve as a model for broader regional cooperation.
