HASAN Demo Day Jakarta 2024: Accelerating Halal Startups, Driving Growth in the Sharia Economy

JAKARTA, August 7, 2024 – The Halal Super Angels (HASAN) Demo Day Jakarta 2024, attended by over 200 potential investors from around the globe, successfully served as an accelerator for 18 innovative halal startups from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Under the theme “Innovate for Impact: Bridging Borders, Building Futures,” HASAN Demo Day Jakarta 2024 showcased creative solutions addressing the challenges of the global halal industry.

Organized by HASAN Venture Capital & Accelerator (HASAN VC), in collaboration with the Indonesia Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI), The National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance (KNEKS), and Bank Indonesia (BI), this prestigious event provided a platform for 18 halal startups from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore to shine.

“Halal Startup Demo Day 2024 is a concrete step we’re taking to support the halal startup ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Umar Munshi, Managing Partner of HASAN VC. “We hope this event can catalyze the growth of the halal industry, attract both domestic and foreign investors, and inspire the birth of even more halal innovators.”

In expressing his support, Rifki Ismal, Director of the Department of Sharia Economy and Finance (DEKS) of Bank Indonesia, said, “This event opens up opportunities for MSMEs to access funding from the investors present, so they can grow sustainably and contribute significantly to the economy. Bank Indonesia consistently encourages the development of digitalization of MSMEs operating in the Sharia economic and financial sector, so that an inclusive and sustainable digital economic and financial ecosystem is realized.”

The startups featured at Demo Day 2024 presented various innovations that meet the unique needs of the halal lifestyle. These innovations ranged from animation and advertising studios to AI-based Quran learning applications, technology-based takaful aggregators, and special applications for the disabled. They are not only relevant to current market trends but also align with national strategies and Indonesia’s vision of becoming a global center for the Sharia economy.

Ronald Yusuf Wijaya revealed, “The success of this event proves that the Indonesian halal startup ecosystem is increasingly mature and ready to compete globally. Collaboration between the government, industry players, and startups is the key to success in developing a sustainable halal industry.”
